Elite coach chooses Line 7 Marine

Elite coach to the world’s most distinguished youth sailing programme chooses Line 7 Marine for largest youth squad in club history.

Breeding grounds for the Volvo Ocean Race, America’s Cup and Match Racing Champions, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s Youth Training Programme will wear Line 7 Marine for the 2016-2017 season. In 1987 the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron launched its Youth Training Programme (YTP) and as a result has seen a “generation of yachting dominated by Kiwi sailors” says Guy Pilkington, coach to some of the world’s top ranking skippers. “The Youth Training Programme sail all year round in some of the harshest conditions from cold winters to hot, hot summers and in winds from four to 40 knots,” says Pilkington. “We look to exploit every possible advantage on the water and we were impressed with the new technology the Active Tee offers in stimulating circulation, enhancing recovery and regulating body temperature.” “Key to our ethos is harnessing technology to support performance on the water – whether that’s at a grass roots or America’s Cup level – and we want to use that technology to support the nation’s sailing succession plan," says Line 7 business manager Danielle Lambert. "Born in New Zealand’s waters, we’re proud to back Kiwi and we’re honoured to be on the backs of the youth that will take up the mantle to write New Zealand’s future yachting legends.”
